How it works

Understand the estimate

The balance combines the money you put in with growth at the rate you enter. R1,000 each month for five years means contributing R60,000 before any investment returns.

Make it more accurate

A higher assumed growth rate produces a larger projection but also adds uncertainty; real returns can vary or be negative.

The starting figures are examples. Replace them with the rates or prices that apply to you.

How growth affects the estimate

The calculator shows your total contributions alongside the projected balance. The difference is the growth calculated at your chosen rate. It assumes you save at the end of each month.

Example: Saving R1,000 per month for five years contributes R60,000 even at a zero growth rate. The result grows when you increase the assumption, but the rate is not guaranteed. Fees, tax and inflation can all reduce your real purchasing power.

Before relying on the estimate

Compare the result at 0%, 3% and 6% to see how much the assumed rate affects the balance. None of these rates is a forecast.
